Nightfair before Christmas

On 7th and 8th of December, The Local Historical Society will be having a stall at OVADA's Nightfair. It's on from 7pm - 11pm on Friday 7th December and then 11am - 4pm on Saturday 8th December. We are having an information stall with the opportunity to donate stories about Oxford in both writing and audio. This is the first time we will be collecting stories via audio so hopefuly it will all run smoothly.

So, came down to Gloucester Green next weekend to meet and speak to the society members!

Today the plaques came down, but after a few swift emails to our generous sites, we have managed to keep 4 of the plaques up for a year! These are the Corpus Christi College, Train Station, Godstow Nunnery and The New Theatre plaques. Over the summer, we will be getting in touch with our other sites and asking if they want to have the plaques up again since the project has been such a success.

Publicity.

We have been contacted by the Oxford Mail about the project and they have written an article about it! The article was also printed in the Oxford Time and the Oxford Star. Penelope from the society was in the photos for these articles, and she was also on BBC Radio Oxford and South Today on the TV. A local celebrity in the making...

What an exciting day! All the plaques are up and look fantastic. Thankfuly, it was dry today, unlike Tuesday, and so the installation team weren't soaked to the skin again. The plaques are up for 7 weeks untill the 3rd July. Guidebooks can be found at the tourist information centre on Broad Street. Take a look at some of the installation pictures. Happy plaque hunting!

Today was the installation day we planned for the plaques. Unfortunatly, only 4 of the plaques have been put up. Some of the fixings were wrong and so we have had to quickly get new ones and the rest are going up on Thursday...
